The holidays are over, the trees are taken down and we're seeing all things Mardi Gras and Hearts.....Having to readjust from Christmas carols and hot chocolate to parades and king cake. Its safe to say I LOVE BEING A CAJUN :) There is NEVER a time we don't celebrate and for good reason, we have so much to be happy about and thankful for!
With all the beautiful colors and festive decorations inspiration hit like a MAC truck and classes were born! Having a brain that never turns off is a blessing and a curse all at the same time. I may not get much sleep....but I do love thinking about all things sugar art (even if that means inspiration strikes at 3am and I need to draw out a new cookie class design!).
Alas, the new slew of classes was born! Although I can't take ALL the credit, my good friend Mrs. Barbara Robin (owner of A Baker's Choice) will brain storm right along with me at midnight. Yes, I am blessed to have such a wonderful friend. She is the main reason I started teaching over 4 years ago and Ive never looked back. I LOVE what I do and I can't thank her enough for the opportunity to be her instructor. So go check out my new classes!
I have had one heck of a week.....to say the least. My kids spent the entire Thanks Giving vacation in Mississippi with their fathers side of the family. Silly me.....I thought I would get a little break.....oh yeah?? Ha Ha It's almost December Rachel...in what world does that mean nap time?? *shaking head* No its crunch time!!! But heck thats my style! I love what I do....I mean I really really love what I do, but even the most full filling jobs can be a bit...well.... exhausting at times. *Looking at my extra large cup of coffee that may or may not be filled with chocolate as I type :)* I really don't know what I would do with out my miracle in a cup some times?
This month will prove to be interesting.....Packed with classes held at A Baker's Choice, Face Painting gigs every weekend and prepping for wedding cakes coming up in the spring. Oh yeah and that little thing called Christmas......Looks like this mom will be Amazon Priming while soaking in the tub before bed.
Oh and I almost forgot about the turkey I have in the oven right now!! Nothing like a Thanks Giving meal on a Sunday night! This was my first Thanks Giving with out my kids so Im recreating it tonight....I love me some turkey......mac n cheese, green bean casserole, candied yams, rice dressing, roasted vegies.....oh and the GRAVY! Yes Im a little hungry and clearly so is Beau.....he hasn't stopped staring at the turkey roasting in the oven.
Time to eat!
Well this week was a long but very very full filling week! After months and months of waiting I was finally able to make Steve's 4th Birthday Cake.....an Indominus Rex Cake! I had never done a cake like this one...but if you know me I love a good challenge! It took me about a week from start to finish but by the grace of God I did in fact finish it. I may have went a little over board with the blood...but I mean its a dino.....they eat, so I thought it was appropraite and it fed my creative hunger. Hehehe pun inteded :)
